Meet the team

Paul is the Managing Director of Barnes Commercial and oversees the running of the business, making sure that we live and breathe our core values. He is an FCA (Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants) and is Dip CII qualified. Paul is also the MD for Lifesure, our sister company where he previously held the position of Finance Director. He has extensive experience in the financial sector spending 12 years as a practising chartered accountant within his own business. He originally trained with multinational professional services firm, Ernst and Young, in London. Outside the office Paul is a keen cyclist and enjoys watching his son play rugby.

Sarah is our Finance Director and qualified over 10 years ago as chartered accountant. Sarah has over a decade of hands-on experience working in regulated insurance and financial services sectors. She oversees our finance and compliance functions and works closely with the team to ensure we maintain exceptional standards and provide the very best service for our clients.  Sarah is also the Finance Director for our sister company, Lifesure, where she previously held the position of Financial Controller. Sarah holds the Cert CII qualification and is currently studying towards her Dip CII. Outside of work Sarah enjoys spending time with her two young girls, baking and horse riding when time allows.

As Head of Insurance, Nick ensures that Barnes Commercial operates in business sectors that we can support effectively, so we continue to offer a valuable service. Nick has over 30 years’ insurance experience across insurer and broking activities. He has experience in product development, e-commerce, client service, business analysis, training and management for both personal and commercial line business. Nick is Cert CII qualified with a Level 3 Certificate in Insurance and holds both Diploma and Executive Diplomas in Management and Leadership. When he’s not at work, Nick enjoys listening to his ever-increasing vinyl music collection.

Luke is our New Business Development Executive and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the business with more than 10 years in the commercial insurance sector.

He is passionate about helping clients to find appropriate risk management solutions, taking the time to get to know their business to ensure his recommendations will be the optimum choice.

When he’s not at work, Luke likes to play in goal for his local football team and spending time with his young daughter.

George is our New Business Development Executive for the manufacturing, dental, doctor and veterinary sectors. He is dedicated to finding our clients an insurance programme to meet with their specific requirements, providing impartial tailored advice to ensure the business is protected from commercial risk. He is studying for his Cert CII , already holding IF1 certification. Outside of work, George enjoys building computers, watching thrillers and gaming.

Rachel makes sure that the financial side of the business runs smoothly. She originally joined our sister company Lifesure in 2008 and has gained a great deal of knowledge and experience in the insurance industry from a variety of roles held within the business. Rachel is Cert CII qualified and is currently studying for her AAT qualification. As well as spending time with her two young children, when she’s not at work Rachel is an avid reader and enjoys watching horror films.

Vikky is responsible for marketing at Barnes Commercial. Her focus is on raising awareness of the Barnes brand, and advocating the exceptional service Barnes Commercial offers from a position of impartiality and profound industry knowledge. Vikky has more than 25 years’ experience in marketing gained from both in-house and agency positions. She also holds a CIM Diploma in marketing. In her free time Vikky enjoys keeping fit, listening to music and baking cakes, which sometimes benefits the rest of the team.

Jane is our Client Relations Executive and is passionate about providing our clients with exceptional customer service. She has a wealth of experience in administration and spent many years as a PA in publishing and the public sector. She understands the needs of clients in our specialist sectors and loves to introduce new clients to our services. Jane always ensures our clients enjoy a great experience from an initial introductory call to appointments with our advisers. When she’s not at work, Jane enjoys keeping fit, walking her dog and gardening.
